Lidl places vegetarian products directly next to meat to tempt meat eaters
Dutch supermarket Lidl announced measures to make healthy and sustainable food the easy choice for its consumers. Lidl is placing meat substitutes between the meat products in the shelves. This measure should contribute to its goal to increase plant-based meat alternatives sales from 38% to 50%.
Product placement is known to influence consumer behaviour. With these measures, supermarkets are taking responsibility to encourage more plant-based food consumption.
Superlist Green, expected after the summer, will report on supermarkets' publication of plant-based vs animal based product sales for the first time.
